News · 2026-11-03 · Xbox Wire: Series X-BITE sweepstakes announcement
Confirmed

Xbox puts a working Series X inside a five-foot artificial alligator

Xbox has built a functioning Series X into a five-foot artificial alligator and is giving the one-off console away in the United States. The X-BITE campaign leans into Florida imagery weeks before GTA VI visits fictional Leonida, but Xbox does not mention Rockstar or present the console as licensed GTA merchandise.

A real console inside an artificial alligator

The X-BITE measures more than five feet from snout to tail. Xbox says the Series X remains functional inside the fabricated animal and is visible through an illuminated Xbox Nexus element. A custom controller with bite marks rests between the jaws, with green irises and Nexus-inspired pupils completing the design. Creature specialists John Nolan Studio handled the 3D modelling, sculpting and fabrication. Xbox notes that the studio has worked on productions including The Witcher and Jurassic World Dominion.

How the US sweepstakes works

The sweepstakes runs from 9 a.m. Pacific on November 3 until 11:59 p.m. Pacific on November 10. Xbox lists three entry routes through X, Instagram or TikTok. Entrants must follow Xbox, repost the designated sweepstakes post, manually add the #XbiteSweepstakes hashtag and keep their account public. No purchase is necessary. The published summary limits eligibility to legal residents of the 50 United States and Washington, D.C. who are at least 18. A potential winner has 48 hours to respond after notification.

The Florida timing invites a GTA comparison

Xbox opens its announcement by saying it is heading to Florida, a state associated with wildlife and unusual stories. That imagery inevitably overlaps with GTA VI’s Leonida campaign, where alligators have appeared in official material. The timing also puts the console in public view shortly before Rockstar’s November 19 launch. Those parallels do not create a licence. Xbox does not name GTA VI, Rockstar or Take-Two, and the console carries Xbox rather than GTA branding. It is accurate to call the promotion Florida-themed, not a confirmed GTA VI console.

A display piece that technically plays games

Xbox says the Series X at the centre works, but the company also describes the creation as best for display. That distinction is sensible for a five-foot sculpture with a controller placed in an alligator’s mouth. It is not a retail hardware model, and only one exists. The company also states that no actual alligators were used or harmed. The prize is a fabricated creature around standard gaming hardware, not a taxidermy product or a console that consumers will be able to order.
