GTA 6 reveals six radio stations and lets Jason and Lucia listen on foot

GTA 6's radio will travel beyond the dashboard. Rockstar has unveiled six stations, including returning pop brand Flash FM, and confirmed that Jason and Lucia can listen to radio and on-demand podcasts while on foot using headphones or earbuds connected to their smartphones.

Six stations, six distinct musical identities

Cocoteo FM pairs El Martillo and La Gata with modern Latin music, including bachata, merengue, dembow and reggaeton. Back Country Radio sends MW and Delta Dawne's country programming across the Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn and beyond, with roving reporter and swamp meteorologist Mud Dog Mike joining from an airboat. These descriptions establish a fictional broadcast identity as well as a genre.

African music, metal, pop and southern rap

AfroBank FM has Burna and Palmsy selecting African music from twentieth-century recordings to amapiano and 3-step. The Chamber 106.6 puts DJ Kerry and DJ Tom in charge of metal. Flash FM returns as a Vice City pop institution hosted by Robyn and Alex, while Trick and Trina present regional rap and hip-hop on Dirty South Classics. The return of Flash FM confirms the brand, not a repeat of its older soundtrack.

Radio and podcasts can accompany a walk

Rockstar explicitly says both formats can be heard in vehicles and on foot. Headphones and earbuds connect to the protagonists' smartphones, giving portable listening a place inside the fictional world. The announcement does not describe how players equip the devices, whether missions can interrupt playback or whether listening affects awareness of nearby activity. Those mechanics should not be inferred from the existence of the feature.

On-demand is different from a live station

The studio describes podcasts as a new on-demand layer beyond Leonida's terrestrial radio. That distinguishes them from choosing a station's ongoing broadcast, but Rockstar has not named the programmes or demonstrated episode selection. Nothing in the announcement establishes real-world podcast services, external subscriptions or access to a player's personal audio library.

Official previews are a starting point

The music section of Rockstar's GTA VI site offers previews of all six stations. The Newswire describes a broader lineup spanning subjects from classic rock to talk radio, with more information still to come. These previews should therefore be treated as samples, not a complete station schedule or exhaustive licensed-song list. Details of the dynamic score remain reserved for another announcement.
