GTA 6’s PS5 download is reported at 210 GB, with Insider Gaming corroboration
A 210 GB download would make preparing for GTA VI a practical issue well before launch. That is the figure reported by PlayStation Game Size on October 27 and corroborated, according to its own reporting, by Insider Gaming. It is not an official storage specification from Rockstar.

What has actually been reported
PlayStation Game Size’s post labels 210 GB as the download size. Insider Gaming’s October 27 article explicitly says it can corroborate that information. This is stronger than a chain of outlets merely quoting the same social post, but the publication does not expose the underlying verification material. GTA6 Watch has not inspected a retail installation or a platform download manifest. The PS5 figure should therefore remain attributed. It does not establish the Xbox Series X|S download size, the amount of temporary free space needed during installation or the size after future updates. It also does not verify an alleged PC build. A precise number can be useful without answering every storage question.
Preloading has a firmer source than the file size
Rockstar’s support page states that preloading begins at local midnight on November 12, ahead of the November 19 launch. It also explains that the boxed release contains a download code and no disc, with codes intended to support preloading. Those details come from Rockstar itself and should not be bundled together with the unconfirmed size as though every part had the same evidential status. For buyers of a boxed copy, the useful question is when their retailer will supply the code. Buying a box does not remove the need to download the game. Our guide to buying and owning GTA VI covers that distinction in more detail.
What 210 GB would mean for a connection
Using decimal gigabytes and a constant 100 megabits per second, transferring 210 GB would take about 4 hours 40 minutes. At 50 Mbps, the idealised calculation is about 9 hours 20 minutes; at 1 Gbps, about 28 minutes. These are our arithmetic examples, not measured GTA VI download times. They assume the reported transfer size is accurate and ignore network overhead, congestion, installation work and changes in throughput. In practice, the connection’s advertised maximum is not a promise of sustained download speed. The preload window is therefore potentially more useful than trying to predict a precise completion time on launch night. Players can check available console storage now without buying additional hardware solely because of an unofficial number.
What would settle the remaining questions
An official platform listing with a storage requirement, Rockstar documentation or a reproducible retail download would provide a firmer basis for a final figure. Until then, leave room for changes and do not assume a particular day-one patch exists or has a known size. Nor does file size measure map area, mission count or quality. Asset formats, audio, compression and packaging can affect storage independently of how much meaningful play a game provides. The relevant news here is a reported download requirement, not proof that GTA VI contains a particular amount of gameplay.
