GTA 6’s online component is expected in 2027, Bloomberg reports

Bloomberg’s new report on GTA 6 places the game’s planned online component in 2027. The wording matters: this is an expectation reported by Jason Schreier, not a launch date announced by Rockstar. The same passage explicitly says the developers are not yet talking about that part of the game.

What the report actually says

The October 14 article includes the 2027 expectation in its discussion of GTA’s business significance, alongside the importance of the existing GTA Online to Take-Two. It does not attribute that window to a named developer in a quotation or explain the evidence behind the timing in that passage. The article is based on extensive reporting and interviews, but the online schedule should still be labelled as reported information rather than an official commitment.

A year is not a launch day

If that expectation holds, the online component would arrive after the November 19, 2026 console release currently advertised for GTA VI. The article provides no month, quarter, beta date or rollout sequence. It therefore does not establish whether the gap would be short or extend well into 2027. A headline promising January, a specific waiting period or a day-one online experience would go beyond the evidence.

Do not merge the online and PC reports

Our separate coverage of GamesBeat concerns a reported first-quarter 2027 PC target. Bloomberg’s online reference is a different claim, about a different part of the release plan. The two windows overlapping on a calendar does not mean the launches are coordinated. It also tells us nothing about cross-play, platform parity, account transfers or whether a future PC version would include online access immediately.

The practical questions remain open

Players still need official details about access, pricing, character progression and the relationship with the existing GTA Online. None of those follows from a single year in a news report. Nor does the passage announce that today’s GTA Online will close when its successor appears. For now, 2027 is a useful reported window to track, while Rockstar’s own announcement will be needed to establish what is launching, on which platforms and under what conditions.

How to read this

This is reported information, not an official confirmation. Independent corroboration remains important.
