A collector’s map with GTA 6? The GameStop rumour still lacks an official answer
A rumour that GTA VI’s boxed edition will include a collector’s map is circulating after an image of a handwritten GameStop sign spread online. The problem is that the retailer accounts do not agree. Journalist Cade Onder says he called five GameStop stores whose staff knew nothing about the supposed offer, and contacted corporate PR for clarification.
SOURCE IMAGEWhat the circulating sign actually says
The image reproduced by GTA BOOM includes the handwritten phrase “A physical collector’s map” beneath a game-box illustration. It also makes other claims about pre-order benefits and pickup. A photograph of that text shows a claim being circulated, not who authorised it or which product it applies to. The original Reddit submission is no longer available in the form linked by the coverage. We cannot establish from this reproduction whether it reflects current retailer guidance, a local mistake or something else.
Why the staff reports are contradictory
GTA BOOM reports that iShoTz and another user received affirmative answers from individual stores. Onder’s original post, by contrast, says five stores expressed confusion because they did not know about a map. He also says he contacted corporate PR. These are conflicting accounts of conversations, not two official announcements cancelling each other out. Store staff may have incomplete or differing information. Their uncertainty makes the rumour weaker as a buying guarantee, but does not by itself prove that a map can never be included.
Do not confuse the rumour with a separate collector’s product
GTA BOOM distinguishes the alleged boxed-game insert from the Leonida poster in the separately sold Vice City Collection. The existence of a map-themed merchandise item would not mean that every copy of the game includes one. The same applies to fan-made digital maps, which are neither packaging contents nor a retailer bonus. Before ordering, the useful questions are which exact product is being sold, whether the map is listed in its official contents and whether any offer applies to the buyer’s region and edition.
What would count as a reliable answer
A statement from Rockstar or GameStop’s corporate team, or an official product listing explicitly describing the insert, would provide stronger evidence than another repost of the sign. None was established in the material checked for this article. We therefore keep the story labelled as a rumour, without promising a map or declaring it conclusively debunked. The other statements visible on the sign, including early pickup wording, should not be treated as verified release or early-access terms either.
