GTA 6 adds fuel, engine health and on-demand car delivery, Edge reports

A getaway car in GTA VI is more than whatever happens to be parked outside the shop. Edge’s new Rockstar North feature describes fuel and engine-health readouts alongside a phone service that delivers a vehicle you own. Together, they suggest a familiar GTA decision, which car to take, will involve more than speed and appearance.

What Edge actually saw

The October 29 feature is based on a studio visit and a roughly 90-minute demonstration controlled by Rockstar’s Rob Nelson. Journalist Simon Parkin watched the game running and interviewed senior developers. It is not a final review or a claim that Edge freely tested every vehicle system. That distinction matters because the details are much stronger than a fan interpretation of a screenshot, but still come from a presentation selected by the developer. They describe the demonstrated build and Rockstar’s explanation of its design, not our own experience with a retail copy.

Scooter Bros brings your own car to you

Edge describes an in-game phone app called Scooter Bros. For a modest fee, a driver delivers one of your vehicles and then departs on a scooter. The process is described as taking only a few seconds. The car’s boot also provides access to the protagonists’ weapon inventory. The practical consequence is convenience without making every escape automatic. Having a delivery service does not mean a player can safely order a car while surrounded during a robbery. Leaving transport nearby beforehand gives a different level of control from improvising with the next driver who passes. The report does not provide a full price list, delivery restrictions or a map of service coverage. We previously archived TGG’s scooter-delivery claim as a rumor. Edge now supplies a named app and an attributable description from a studio presentation. This is stronger evidence for the system, not a reason to pretend every earlier speculation about its rules has been confirmed.

Fuel is a consideration, not a documented chore schedule

The feature states that vehicles have a fuel gauge and an engine-health readout. It also describes cars covering considerable distances before running low, with refuelling treated as a brief interruption. No exact consumption figures, tank capacities or repair-price tables are supplied. A nearly empty stolen vehicle can therefore be a different proposition from a prepared personal car. That is the meaningful change for players: the condition of transport becomes another variable in a plan. It does not justify claims that every short journey will require a petrol stop, or that the game has a fully simulated mechanical maintenance system.

Why the details matter for a GTA getaway

Our earlier coverage explained the growing emphasis on tools, tracking and preparation when stealing vehicles. The newly described delivery and fuel systems add another layer: preparation can reduce uncertainty, while a spontaneous theft leaves more to chance. The best vehicle on paper may not be the best one available in the moment. This is a design tension rather than a verdict. Extra decisions can produce memorable escapes, but their success depends on how often they interrupt play and how clearly the game communicates them. Those are questions for hands-on testing. For now, the evidence supports a more considered relationship with your car, not an assumption that realism automatically improves every chase. The accompanying image is a Rockstar screenshot released through Edge, not a captured fuel menu. Explore the full new set in our official media library.
