Daft Punk were pitched a GTA 6 comeback, music account claims

A new claim places Daft Punk in an alternative version of GTA 6’s musical history. The music account Has it Leaked says the duo’s management received a proposal for a comeback before Rockstar chose Justice. We read the original October 19 post: it contains the allegation, but no documents or named participants who could establish that the approach happened.

What the original message actually claims

Has it Leaked describes an approach to the duo’s management for a final return, with a budget characterised as effectively unrestricted. It also places Justice second in the alleged selection process. The post does not give a date for the approach, identify who made it or show a response from the musicians. Those missing details matter: an idea presented to management, a negotiated commission and completed music would be different stages, not interchangeable evidence of a collaboration.

One allegation, several headlines

Dexerto reports the same post, rather than presenting a separate interview with Rockstar or the artists. Its coverage notes that Daft Punk disbanded in 2021. The renewed attention is understandable, but the number of outlets discussing an allegation does not increase the number of sources behind it. We have not verified a refusal, a contract offer or a financial figure. In particular, the budget description is the account’s wording, not a disclosed sum that can be compared with the cost of the game.

What Rockstar has confirmed

Rockstar’s own music page identifies Justice as the original-score composers. It presents Flower in a Hurricane with Tame Impala, SZA and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, alongside a separate section for the 34-track GTA VI album. The page also distinguishes these releases from Leonida’s radio stations. That provides a firm reference point: the currently announced score is Justice’s work. The new rumour does not replace that credit or announce a change in the music players will hear.

A score credit is not the same as a radio appearance

An artist can appear on a licensed station, contribute to an album or compose music for the game. Evidence for one role does not automatically establish either of the others. Likewise, a purported discussion about a comeback would not tell us whether older Daft Punk recordings feature on a station. Our earlier Justice coverage explains the announced music; this follow-up concerns the unverified account of how the commission might have been discussed. Confirmation would require attributable testimony from a participant or verifiable documentation, not another headline repeating the post.
