Confirmed

Take-Two signs a new long-term Xbox publishing agreement: no GTA 6 exclusivity or Game Pass deal

Take-Two has signed a new long-term Xbox Publisher License Agreement with Microsoft covering games released on Xbox devices. The agreement, disclosed in a September 30 SEC filing and effective from September 17, replaces the companies' previous Xbox publishing arrangements. It is important platform-business infrastructure ahead of GTA 6, but the filing contains no exclusivity, Game Pass, co-marketing, investment or special console announcement.

What Take-Two filed

The September 30 Form 8-K says Take-Two entered into a long-term Xbox Publisher License Agreement effective September 17. It covers the publication of games on Xbox devices and supersedes the companies' existing publisher agreements. This is a formal corporate disclosure, not a retailer leak or anonymous report.

The agreement covers standard publishing machinery

Take-Two summarises provisions involving platform approval, physical-product royalties, digital revenue sharing and other customary publishing terms. Those categories are the infrastructure through which a third-party publisher sells software on Xbox; they do not by themselves grant Microsoft ownership of a game or franchise.

Why GTA 6 is relevant without being named

GTA 6 is officially scheduled for Xbox Series X|S as well as PlayStation 5, so Take-Two needs a valid Xbox publishing framework for the release. The filing nevertheless concerns Take-Two's broader catalogue. Calling it a GTA 6-specific contract would narrow the document beyond its stated scope.

No exclusivity or Game Pass announcement

The 8-K does not say GTA 6 is exclusive to Xbox, coming to Game Pass, receiving Microsoft investment or gaining a unique Xbox edition. It also does not change the announced PlayStation version. Any of those outcomes would need separate evidence or an explicit announcement.

'All Xbox devices' is not a hardware leak

Broad contract language is designed to govern a platform family over time. It should not be treated as confirmation of a particular unannounced console, handheld or release target. The filing names no future Xbox model and makes no GTA 6 performance claim.

The full contract may add detail later

Take-Two says the agreement will be filed with a future periodic report, subject to confidential-treatment requests. That exhibit may clarify duration and legal definitions, but commercially sensitive rates can remain redacted. Until then, the confirmed news is the renewal of a long-term publishing framework, not a new GTA 6 platform strategy.
