Rockstar's GTA 6 research helicopter crossed a Beyoncé concert, LOVE reports

Rockstar art directors filming Miami for GTA 6 crossed a Beyoncé concert during a helicopter research flight, according to a LOVE Magazine interview reported by GTA BOOM. The same research trail includes a film-permit reference to Liberty Square. That name belongs to a real Miami housing development in the Liberty City neighborhood and does not confirm that Grand Theft Auto's fictional Liberty City is playable in GTA 6.

A helicopter route across Miami

GTA BOOM reports Garbut describing a flight that filmed mangroves over the Everglades before continuing across downtown and the beach. The crew then realized it had crossed a Beyoncé concert. The anecdote is useful because it identifies the kind of reference Rockstar wanted: the relationship between coast, skyline, wetlands and crowds at a scale that cannot be captured from a car or sidewalk.

The concert is research context, not a confirmed in-game event

Flying over a concert does not mean Rockstar licensed Beyoncé, recreated that performance or designed a matching mission. Research footage can inform lighting, traffic, crowd density, architecture and the broader feel of a city without reproducing a specific event. The reported quote establishes an unexpected moment during fieldwork, not a content announcement for GTA 6.

Why Liberty Square caused confusion

The reporting connects the flight research with a permit that refers to Liberty Square. In Miami, Liberty Square is a real public housing development located in the Liberty City neighborhood. The familiar name can easily be detached from that context and misread as Rockstar's fictional Liberty City, the series' version of New York. The permit wording alone supports no such conclusion.

A permit records production, not the final map

Film permits can identify where a crew worked, the equipment used and the practical boundaries of a shoot. They do not reveal how artists combine references, rename locations or compress geography. A place can influence a building, road or atmosphere without appearing as a labelled district. Conversely, the final world can include locations researched through methods that leave no public permit.

How this fits Rockstar's wider Florida research

The helicopter account complements previously reported work with Miami street artists, a local stylist, race drivers and community contacts. Together, those methods cover both the aerial shape of the region and the people who give it texture. The more defensible conclusion is that Rockstar gathered references across different scales. It is not that every photographed location, event or name will appear literally in Leonida.
