Confirmed

Nintendo has nothing to announce on GTA 6 for Switch 2, says Devon Pritchard

Nintendo of America president Devon Pritchard has no GTA 6 announcement for Switch 2. Asked about the game in a new Variety interview, she directed the question to Take-Two and Rockstar. Her answer leaves the publishing decision with those companies; it does not confirm a Nintendo version or establish how one would run.

What Pritchard actually said

Asked whether Switch 2 could accommodate GTA 6 and its mature subject matter, Pritchard answered: “That's going to be a conversation for Take Two and Rockstar, but nothing to announce on my end at this time.” The response names the companies responsible for the game without describing a deal, negotiations or work already underway. It is not a rejection of the idea, but it is not an announcement either.

The horsepower claim is the interviewer's framing

Immediately before that quotation, Variety says the console “certainly has the horsepower” to host GTA 6. Those words appear in the journalist's prose, not inside a quotation attributed to Pritchard. GTA BOOM's subsequent report frames the exchange more strongly as Nintendo confirming the hardware can run the game. The original interview does not support presenting that sentence as her technical assurance.

A broad third-party strategy is not a GTA commitment

Elsewhere in the interview, Pritchard talks about offering a diversity of experiences and being at the beginning of Switch 2's capabilities. Those comments explain Nintendo's broader platform ambitions. They do not specify a GTA 6 build, engineering budget, resolution, frame rate or launch window. Performance in another third-party game cannot establish those details for Rockstar's project.

What would change the platform picture

A formal platform announcement from Take-Two or Rockstar would be a different kind of evidence from this exchange. Until then, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S remain the announced console versions. Readers should not interpret “nothing to announce” as a concealed release date, or as proof that a port will never happen. The interview leaves that question unanswered.
