Sensor Tower estimates 7.71 million GTA 6 preorders and $751 million

Sensor Tower estimates that GTA VI has accumulated about 7.71 million preorders worth $751 million, according to GamesRadar. The analytics company’s tracker assigns 74% of those early purchases to PlayStation 5, but Rockstar and Take-Two have not published matching preorder totals.

The model points to 7.71 million early purchases

GamesRadar reports that Sensor Tower’s tracker estimates roughly 7,710,000 GTA VI preorders. The same report says those orders represent about $751 million in revenue. Those numbers are internally presented as estimates from one analytics company, not receipts released by the publisher. The headline figure is large enough to be newsworthy, but false precision is a risk. A live model can change as new data arrives, and an estimate to the nearest ten thousand does not mean outside observers have access to every storefront transaction.

PS5 reportedly accounts for 74%

Sensor Tower’s platform split, as reported by GamesRadar, assigns 74% of preorders to PlayStation 5. That is consistent with Sony’s highly visible GTA VI marketing, but it should not be converted into a final market-share prediction. Xbox orders can accelerate closer to release, and the tracker’s coverage may differ by storefront or territory. The percentage also says nothing about performance quality on either console. Sales interest and technical results are separate questions.

Why revenue does not divide neatly into one retail price

Dividing $751 million by 7.71 million units produces an implied average close to $97 per order. That arithmetic is descriptive, not proof of a single global selling price. Different editions, regional prices, currencies, taxes and model assumptions can all affect the estimated revenue total. The calculation therefore should not be used to claim that most buyers selected one particular edition. Edition-level data would be required for that conclusion.

Official numbers may arrive on a different timetable

Take-Two can discuss units shipped or sold in corporate reporting, while Rockstar may announce milestones on its own schedule. Those disclosures can use definitions and reporting windows that differ from Sensor Tower’s live tracker. A later official figure may therefore be higher, lower or simply not directly comparable. For now, the estimate is best treated as evidence of extraordinary preorder momentum with a clearly labelled source. It is not a substitute for audited company reporting.
