GTA 6 reviews are reportedly planned before launch, but no embargo date is public

Players waiting for reviews before buying GTA 6 may have a chance to read them ahead of release. Insider Gaming reports that reviews are planned before November 19, while a separate claim from NateTheHate places the distribution of review copies before the end of October. Neither report provides a public, Rockstar-confirmed review schedule.

What Insider Gaming is reporting

In its October 14 article, Insider Gaming says it has learned that reviews will go live before the game releases. The outlet also says it knows a preliminary embargo but is withholding that date because it could change. It does not name a source for the information. The defensible claim is therefore that a pre-launch review window is being reported, not that a specific day or hour has been announced.

Sending copies and publishing reviews are different steps

RockstarINTEL separately relays a ResetEra post in which NateTheHate says review copies have not yet gone out but are expected before the end of October. We verified the RockstarINTEL account, not the original forum post. This is a claim about when critics could receive access. An embargo governs when their work may appear publicly; it does not necessarily expire as soon as a copy arrives. Combining the two reports cannot produce an exact review date.

Why the distinction matters before a purchase

For readers undecided about pre-ordering, the useful possibility is independent assessment before release rather than another preview or developer interview. Reviews could help answer questions about pacing, technical performance and how the open world holds up over a full playthrough. The reports do not establish which outlets will receive access, which consoles they will test or whether every critic will have the same amount of time. They also offer no reason to predict review scores.

The confirmation still to come

A publicly stated embargo, a direct announcement from a participating outlet, or the reviews themselves would settle the timing more firmly. Until then, claims that reviews will land on a particular October date, that copies are already in journalists’ hands or that Rockstar has guaranteed universal early access go beyond these sources. We will update this report if a verifiable schedule becomes public. The illustration is an existing official GTA 6 screenshot, not an image from a review build.
