GTA 6 collector’s edition rumor now looks more like a press kit — what the new photos show

The mysterious black ‘Vice City: Leonida’ box has resurfaced with a purported look inside. A SourceVI post says the package contains a branded T-shirt, trucker cap, sticker sheet, metal keyring and Rockstar welcome card. That combination resembles a promotional press or creator kit far more than a conventional retail collector's edition — but the images have not been authenticated, their chain of custody is unclear, and Rockstar has announced no such product.

What the newer images reportedly contain

SourceVI says it spoke with the original Reddit poster and received a closer look inside the box. Its post lists five items: a ‘Vice City Leonida’ graphic T-shirt, a matching trucker cap, a GTA VI sticker sheet, a metal keyring and a Rockstar Games welcome card. GTA BOOM independently summarizes the same visible inventory in its follow-up report. None of the newer images reportedly shows a game disc, console case, steelbook, art book, statue, product barcode, platform mark or retail price. The evidence being circulated is therefore evidence of branded merchandise — not evidence that a purchasable edition exists.

Why a press or creator kit is now the stronger interpretation

Clothing, stickers, small accessories and a welcome card are typical promotional items sent to journalists, creators or commercial partners. Their purpose is visibility rather than retail value. A welcome card is particularly suggestive of a mailer assembled for a recipient, while the absence of a game case or formal product identifiers works against the original collector's-edition interpretation. This does not prove the package is an official press kit: it only makes that explanation more consistent with the reported contents. A fan-made prop or fabricated image set remains possible.

The sourcing problem has become more important

The newer material does not provide a clean chain of custody. GTA BOOM notes that the first outer-box images came from a September 9 Reddit post that was later removed, while the interior images appeared three days later through fan accounts claiming private contact with the same anonymous person. SourceVI's post is now publicly inspectable, but the original files and private exchange are not. Multiple accounts repeating the same images do not constitute independent corroboration. Without metadata or an attributable source, the additional detail increases the story's interest more than its certainty.

What to make of the AI-image warning

A Community Note attached to the SourceVI post says users have identified signs that the contents images may have been generated with AI. That is a reason for additional caution, not a completed authentication analysis. Community Notes are crowdsourced context and can surface useful concerns, but they do not replace access to original files, provenance or forensic examination. GTA 6 Watch has therefore not labelled the images fake. The defensible conclusion is narrower: their authenticity is disputed and currently cannot be established from the public material.

What would confirm a real commercial collector's edition

A Rockstar or Take-Two announcement, an official store page, verifiable retailer inventory, regulatory packaging, platform-specific product identifiers or independently sourced photographs would move the claim beyond rumor. Confirmation of a promotional kit would require a traceable recipient, official correspondence or comparable packages reaching multiple identifiable outlets. Until then, the new images make a retail collector's edition less persuasive, not more: the alleged box may be promotional, fabricated or something else entirely, and no consumer availability has been established.
